A vulnerability was found in osCommerce PHP Point Of Sale 1.1 (E-Commerce Management Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file index.php of the component Installation. The manipulation of the argument cfg_language with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

(dot dot) in the cfg_language parameter. NOTE: this issue has been disputed by CVE, since the cfg_language variable is configured upon proper product installation.

The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
