Details
A vulnerability was found in sleuthkit The Sleuth Kit up to 4.14.0. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function wrapped_key_parser of the component APFS File Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The Sleuth Kit through 4.14.0 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the APFS filesystem keybag parser where the wrapped_key_parser class follows attacker-controlled length fields without bounds checking, causing heap reads past the allocated buffer. An attacker can craft a malicious APFS disk image that triggers information disclosure or crashes when processed by any Sleuth Kit tool that parses APFS volumes.
