A vulnerability was found in Ftplib 3.1-1. It has been declared as very critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function set_umask. The manipulation of the argument -m with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
** DISPUTED ** Buffer overflow in the set_umask function in QFTP in LIBFtp 3.1-1 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a long -m argument. NOTE: CVE disputes this issue because QFTP is not setuid, and it is unlikely that there are web interfaces to QFTP that would accept untrusted command line arguments.
