A vulnerability was found in MervinPraison PraisonAIAgents up to 1.5.127 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file praisonaiagents/tools/web_crawl_tools.py. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
PraisonAIAgents is a multi-agent teams system. Prior to 1.5.128, the web_crawl() function in praisonaiagents/tools/web_crawl_tools.py accepts arbitrary URLs from AI agents with zero validation. No scheme allowlisting, hostname/IP blocklisting, or private network checks are applied before fetching. This allows an attacker (or prompt injection in crawled content) to force the agent to fetch cloud metadata endpoints, internal services, or local files via file:// URLs. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.5.128.
