A vulnerability was found in Holtstraeter Rot 13 (affected version not known) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file enkrypt.php. The manipulation of the argument datei with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in enkrypt.php in Sascha Schroeder krypt (aka Holtstraeter Rot 13) allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the datei parameter.
The weakness was released 03/16/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-1509 since 03/20/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
