Details
A vulnerability was found in Jellyfin up to 10.11.6. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is an unknown function of the file /SyncPlay/New of the component SyncPlay Group Creation Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
Jellyfin is an open source self hosted media server. Versions prior to 10.11.7 contain a denial of service vulnerability in the SyncPlay group creation endpoint (POST /SyncPlay/New), where an authenticated user can create groups with names of unlimited size due to insufficient input validation. By sending large payloads combined with arbitrary group IDs, an attacker can lock out the endpoint for other clients attempting to join SyncPlay groups and significantly increase the memory usage of the Jellyfin process, potentially leading to an out-of-memory crash. This issue has been fixed in version 10.11.7.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-35034 since 03/31/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 10.11.7 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at github.com.
