Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in imprintnext Riaxe Product Customizer Plugin up to 2.1.2 on WordPress. Affected is the function ink_pd_add_option. The manipulation of the argument opt_value with an unknown input leads to a authorization vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-862. The product does not perform an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Riaxe Product Customizer plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 2.1.2. The plugin registers an unauthenticated AJAX action ('wp_ajax_nopriv_install-imprint') that maps to the ink_pd_add_option() function. This function reads 'option' and 'opt_value' from $_POST, then calls delete_option() followed by add_option() using these attacker-controlled values without any nonce verification, capability checks, or option name allowlist. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update arbitrary WordPress options, which can be leveraged for privilege escalation by enabling user registration and setting the default user role to administrator.
The weakness was presented by Kai Aizen. The advisory is shared for download at wordfence.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-3596 since 03/05/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 2.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
