Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in WSO2 Identity Server up to 5.2.0.34. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Access Token Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session expiration vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-613. According to WASC, "Insufficient Session Expiration is when a web site permits an attacker to reuse old session credentials or session IDs for authorization." Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Active access tokens are not revoked or invalidated when a user account is locked within WSO2 Identity Server. This failure to enforce revocation allows previously issued, valid tokens to remain usable, enabling continued access to protected resources by locked user accounts. The security consequence is that a locked user account can maintain access to protected resources through the use of existing, unexpired access tokens. This creates a security gap where access control policies are bypassed, potentially leading to unauthorized data access or actions until the tokens naturally expire.

The advisory is available at security.docs.wso2.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-12624 since 11/03/2025. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

Upgrading to version 5.2.0.35 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2025-209495). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
