Details
A vulnerability was found in neutrinolabs xrdp up to 0.10.5. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component RDP Message Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
xrdp is an open source RDP server. Versions through 0.10.5 have an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the pre-authentication RDP message parsing logic. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can trigger this flaw by sending a specially crafted sequence of packets during the initial connection phase. This vulnerability results from insufficient validation of input buffer lengths before processing dynamic channel communication. Successful exploitation can lead to a denial-of-service (DoS) condition via a process crash or potential disclosure of sensitive information from the service's memory space. This issue has been fixed in version 0.10.6.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-33689 since 03/23/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
