pam_console does not properly restore ownership for certain console devices when there are multiple users logged into the console and one user logs out, which might allow local users to gain privileges.

The bug was discovered 03/03/2007. The weakness was presented 03/27/2007 as Bug 230823 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-1716 since 03/27/2007. The exploitability is told to be difficult. The attack needs to be approached locally. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
