A vulnerability has been found in sBLOG 0.7.3 Beta and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the file inc/lang.php. The manipulation of the argument conf_lang_default with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in inc/lang.php in sBLOG 0.7.3 Beta allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the conf_lang_default parameter, as demonstrated by injecting PHP sequences into an Apache HTTP Server log file, which is then included by inc/lang.php.
The weakness was released 03/29/2007 by GoLd_M (Website). The advisory is shared at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-1801 since 04/02/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
