A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Peak Xoops Myalbum P up to 2.0 (Content Management System). Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file viewcat.php. The manipulation of the argument cid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. SQL injection vulnerability in modules/myalbum/viewcat.php in the myAlbum-P 2.0 and earlier module for Xoops allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the cid parameter.
The weakness was disclosed 04/01/2007 by ajann (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-1807 since 04/02/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by ajann in Perl and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:viewcat.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
