Array index vulnerability in libmpdemux/demux_audio.c in MPlayer 1.0rc2 and SVN before r25917, and possibly earlier versions, as used in Xine-lib 1.1.10, might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted FLAC tag, which triggers a buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 02/04/2008. The weakness was disclosed 02/05/2008 by Felipe Manzano Anibal Sacco with Core Security (Website). The advisory is shared at mplayerhq.hu. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-0486 since 01/29/2008. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
