Linux Kernel up to 6.12.80/6.18.21/6.19.11 amdgpu null pointer dereference

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.80/6.18.21/6.19.11. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component amdgpu. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: Change AMDGPU_VA_RESERVED_TRAP_SIZE to 64KB Currently, AMDGPU_VA_RESERVED_TRAP_SIZE is hardcoded to 8KB, while KFD_CWSR_TBA_TMA_SIZE is defined as 2 * PAGE_SIZE. On systems with 4K pages, both values match (8KB), so allocation and reserved space are consistent. However, on 64K page-size systems, KFD_CWSR_TBA_TMA_SIZE becomes 128KB, while the reserved trap area remains 8KB. This mismatch causes the kernel to crash when running rocminfo or rccl unit tests. This means we reserve 64 KB for the trap in the address space, but only allocate 8 KB within it. With this approach, the allocation size never exceeds the reserved area.
