Linux Kernel up to 6.19.11 hci_cmd_sync_queue_once memory leak

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.11. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function hci_cmd_sync_queue_once. Performing a manipulation results in memory leak. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-43022. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No exploit is available. Upgrading the affected component is recommended.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.11. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function hci_cmd_sync_queue_once. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_sync: hci_cmd_sync_queue_once() return -EEXIST if exists hci_cmd_sync_queue_once() needs to indicate whether a queue item was added, so caller can know if callbacks are called, so it can avoid leaking resources. Change the function to return -EEXIST if queue item already exists. Modify all callsites to handle that.

The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-43022 since 05/01/2026. Access to the local network is required for this attack. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 326000 (SUSE SLED15: cluster-md-kmp-default / dlm-kmp-default / gfs2-kmp-default / etc (SUSE-SU-2026:2800-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 6.19.12 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 0ad2ce230b38cd4b3f6732cc609e270461e626e5/2969554bcfccb5c609f6b6cd4a014933f3a66dd0 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (326000) and EUVD (EUVD-2026-26621). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
