Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.11. Affected is the function reset_add_gpio_aux_device. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a double free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-415. The product calls free() twice on the same memory address, potentially leading to modification of unexpected memory locations. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: reset: gpio: fix double free in reset_add_gpio_aux_device() error path When __auxiliary_device_add() fails, reset_add_gpio_aux_device() calls auxiliary_device_uninit(adev). The device release callback reset_gpio_aux_device_release() frees adev, but the current error path then calls kfree(adev) again, causing a double free. Keep kfree(adev) for the auxiliary_device_init() failure path, but avoid freeing adev after auxiliary_device_uninit().
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-31745 since 03/09/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/01/2026).
