Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in n8n-io n8n up to 1.123.31/2.17.3/2.18.0. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Query String Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to versions 1.123.32, 2.17.4, and 2.18.1, the fix for GHSA-f3f2-mcxc-pwjx did not cover the Snowflake node or the legacy MySQL v1 node. Both nodes construct SQL queries by directly interpolating user-controlled table names, column names, and update keys into query strings without identifier escaping, enabling SQL injection against the connected database. This issue has been patched in versions 1.123.32, 2.17.4, and 2.18.1.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-42237 since 04/25/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 1.123.32, 2.17.4 or 2.18.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-27113). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
