Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.5. Affected is the function input_mapping of the component HID. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: magicmouse: Do not crash on missing msc->input Fake USB devices can send their own report descriptors for which the input_mapping() hook does not get called. In this case, msc->input stays NULL, leading to a crash at a later time. Detect this condition in the input_configured() hook and reject the device. This is not supposed to happen with actual magic mouse devices, but can be provoked by imposing as a magic mouse USB device.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-43140 since 05/01/2026. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 321690 (SUSE SLES12 Security Update : kernel (SUSE-SU-2026:2450-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
