CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Redis. This impacts an unknown function of the component Codec Encoder. Such manipulation leads to crlf injection. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-42586. Local access is required to approach this attack. No exploit exists. You should upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Redis (affected version not known) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Codec Encoder. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a crlf injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-93. The product uses CRLF (carriage return line feeds) as a special element, e.g. to separate lines or records, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CRLF sequences from inputs. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, the Netty Redis codec encoder (RedisEncoder) writes user-controlled string content directly to the network output buffer without validating or sanitizing CRLF (\r\n) characters. Since the Redis Serialization Protocol (RESP) uses CRLF as the command/response delimiter, an attacker who can control the content of a Redis message can inject arbitrary Redis commands or forge fake responses. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-42586. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
