Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.5. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the component net. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a uninitialized pointer vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-824. The product accesses or uses a pointer that has not been initialized. The impact remains unknown. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: nfc: nci: Fix parameter validation for packet data Since commit 9c328f54741b ("net: nfc: nci: Add parameter validation for packet data") communication with nci nfc chips is not working any more. The mentioned commit tries to fix access of uninitialized data, but failed to understand that in some cases the data packet is of variable length and can therefore not be compared to the maximum packet length given by the sizeof(struct).
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-43291 since 05/01/2026. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/14/2026).
Upgrading to version 5.15.202, 6.1.165, 6.6.128, 6.12.75, 6.18.16 or 6.19.6 eliminates this vulnerability.
