Linux Kernel up to 6.19.8 usbhs_remove use after free

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.8. Affected is the function usbhs_remove. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: renesas_usbhs: fix use-after-free in ISR during device removal In usbhs_remove(), the driver frees resources (including the pipe array) while the interrupt handler (usbhs_interrupt) is still registered. If an interrupt fires after usbhs_pipe_remove() but before the driver is fully unbound, the ISR may access freed memory, causing a use-after-free. Fix this by calling devm_free_irq() before freeing resources. This ensures the interrupt handler is both disabled and synchronized (waits for any running ISR to complete) before usbhs_pipe_remove() is called.

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-43426 since 05/01/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 05/21/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.10.253, 5.15.203, 6.1.167, 6.6.130, 6.12.78, 6.18.19 or 6.19.9 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch c7012fc73dab4829404fedeeaa8531f12ac8545f/51afaf919bbaacdd9cc9e146033ae0a743a42dd7/1899edac312ef17a7234851686e8a703f56d0a84/9c6159d5b72d5fc265cce5da04f27d730b552e69/6287e0c01ccb818e7214f88d885ffb7c9e81b0e0/0b7d11fd6e742ecc0b1eca44b4f0b93140c74bae/6ffe44f022c95b1b29c691d2169c5abc046f7580/3cbc242b88c607f55da3d0d0d336b49bf1e20412 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
