Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.18/6.19.8 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function hci_dma_dequeue_xfer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i3c: mipi-i3c-hci: Fix race in DMA ring dequeue The HCI DMA dequeue path (hci_dma_dequeue_xfer()) may be invoked for multiple transfers that timeout around the same time. However, the function is not serialized and can race with itself. When a timeout occurs, hci_dma_dequeue_xfer() stops the ring, processes incomplete transfers, and then restarts the ring. If another timeout triggers a parallel call into the same function, the two instances may interfere with each other - stopping or restarting the ring at unexpected times. Add a mutex so that hci_dma_dequeue_xfer() is serialized with respect to itself.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-43353 since 05/01/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/27/2026).
Upgrading to version 6.18.19 or 6.19.9 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch b684b420a5bb0ea1b0e13abfdb8ce41c5266e62e/4faa1e9c67a2229f6749190aedaf88ce0391efd2/1dca8aee80eea76d2aae21265de5dd64f6ba0f09 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
