Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.8 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function usb_bulk_msg_killable of the component Usbtmc Driver. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: usbtmc: Use usb_bulk_msg_killable() with user-specified timeouts The usbtmc driver accepts timeout values specified by the user in an ioctl command, and uses these timeouts for some usb_bulk_msg() calls. Since the user can specify arbitrarily long timeouts and usb_bulk_msg() uses unkillable waits, call usb_bulk_msg_killable() instead to avoid the possibility of the user hanging a kernel thread indefinitely.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-43429 since 05/01/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/10/2026).
