CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in PHP up to 8.2.30/8.3.30/8.4.20/8.5.5. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function strncat of the component PDO Firebird Driver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In PHP versions 8.2.* before 8.2.31, 8.3.* before 8.3.31, 8.4.* before 8.4.21, and 8.5.* before 8.5.6, the PDO Firebird driver improperly handles NUL bytes when preparing SQL queries. During token-by-token query construction, a string token containing a NUL byte is copied via strncat(), which stops at the NUL byte, dropping the closing quote and causing subsequent SQL tokens to be interpreted as part of the string. This allows SQL injection when attacker-controlled values are quoted via PDO::quote() and embedded in SQL statements.

The weakness was released by Aleksey Solovev as GHSA-w476-322c-wpvm. The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-14179 since 12/06/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/03/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 313734 (Fedora 44 : php (2026-c66eaae759)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 8.2.31, 8.3.31, 8.4.21 or 8.5.6 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (313734) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-1433). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
