Details
A vulnerability was found in pyLoad. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function set_package_data. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. Prior to 0.5.0b3.dev100, when passing a folder name in the set_package_data() API function call inside the data object with key "_folder", there is no sanitization at all, allowing a user with Perms.MODIFY to specify arbitrary directories as download locations for a package. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.5.0b3.dev100.
