Details
A vulnerability has been found in dani-garcia vaultwarden up to 1.35.4 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function security_stamp of the component Password Change Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session expiration vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-613. According to WASC, "Insufficient Session Expiration is when a web site permits an attacker to reuse old session credentials or session IDs for authorization." As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Vaultwarden is a Bitwarden-compatible server written in Rust. Prior to 1.35.5, refresh tokens are not invalidated when the user's security_stamp is rotated by some security-sensitive operations (password change, KDF change, key rotation, email change, org admin password reset, emergency access takeover). This allows an attacker holding a previously obtained refresh token to maintain session access even after the user has taken action to secure their account. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.35.5.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-43911 since 05/04/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
