Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in efwGrp efw4.X up to 4.08.9. This affects the function elfinder_checkRisk. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authorization vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-863. The product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. This allows attackers to bypass intended access restrictions. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
efw4.X is an Enterprise Framework for Web. Prior to 4.08.010, the readonly flag set on the JSP tag is intended to prevent file modifications. When protected=true, elfinder_checkRisk enforces that the client sends readonly=true (matching the session value), but no event handler checks the readonly value before performing write operations. The flag only controls client-side UI elements (disabling buttons) and response metadata (write: 0, locked: 1). An attacker who sends requests directly (bypassing the UI) can perform all file operations despite readonly=true. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.08.010.
It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-44260 since 05/05/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 4.08.010 eliminates this vulnerability.
