Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in F5 BIG-IP. Affected is some unknown processing of the component iControl REST Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-77. The product constructs all or part of a command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
When BIG-IP DNS is provisioned, a vulnerability exists in an undisclosed iControl REST and BIG-IP TMOS Shell (tmsh) command that may allow an authenticated attacker with the Resource Administrator or Administrator role to execute arbitrary system commands with higher privileges. In Appliance mode deployments, a successful exploit can allow the attacker to cross a security boundary. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
