CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in F5 BIG-IP and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the component iControl REST Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-35. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize '.../...//' (doubled triple dot slash) sequences that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. As an impact it is known to affect integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

When running in Appliance mode, a directory traversal vulnerability exists in an undisclosed iControl REST endpoint that may allow an authenticated attacker with administrator role privileges to cross a security boundary and delete files.  Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

The advisory is shared at my.f5.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-24464 since 05/01/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/22/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 316113 (F5 Networks BIG-IP : Appliance mode iControl REST vulnerability (K000160911)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 17.1.3.2, 17.5.1.6 or 21.0.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (316113) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-1532). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
