Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in F5 BIG-IP. Affected is an unknown code of the component Appliance Mode. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-35. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize '.../...//' (doubled triple dot slash) sequences that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
When running in Appliance mode, an authenticated attacker assigned the 'Administrator' role may be able to bypass Appliance mode restrictions on a BIG-IP system. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
