Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Traefik (affected version unknown) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component Gateway API TraefikService Backend. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Traefik is an HTTP reverse proxy and load balancer. Prior to 2.11.46, 3.6.17, and 3.7.1, Traefik's Kubernetes Gateway API provider allows a tenant with HTTPRoute creation permissions to expose the REST provider handler, bypassing the providers.rest.insecure=false setting. The Gateway provider accepts any TraefikService backend reference whose name ends with @internal, making it possible to route traffic to rest@internal in addition to the intended api@internal. In shared Gateway deployments where the REST provider is enabled, this allows a low-privileged actor to gain live dynamic configuration write access to Traefik, enabling unauthorized reconfiguration of routers and services. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.11.46, 3.6.17, and 3.7.1.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-44774. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1548.002 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 314905 (Traefik 2.x < 2.11.46 / 3.x < 3.6.17 / 3.7.x < 3.7.1 Authentication Bypass (CVE-2026-44774)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (314905) and EUVD (EUVD-2026-30566). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
