Details
A vulnerability was found in nesquena hermes-webui up to 0.51.43. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Session Import Endpoint. The manipulation of the argument workspace with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Hermes WebUI prior to 0.51.44 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the session import endpoint that allows authenticated attackers to read arbitrary files by importing a crafted session with an unrestricted workspace value. Attackers can supply a blocked filesystem root in the workspace field and subsequently use relative paths in the session file API to access any file readable by the WebUI process.
