Details
A vulnerability was found in Altium Enterprise Server up to 8.0.3 and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Gerber File Upload API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A path traversal vulnerability exists in the Altium Enterprise Server ComparisonService due to missing filename sanitization in the Gerber file upload APIs. A regular authenticated workspace user can supply a crafted filename in the multipart Content-Disposition header to escape the intended temporary upload directory and write arbitrary files to any location on the server filesystem. Because content-controlled files can be written to web-accessible directories, this can be escalated to remote code execution in the context of the service account. It can also be used to overwrite application binaries or configuration files, leading to service takeover or denial of service.
The weakness was disclosed by Joris Aerts. The advisory is shared at altium.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-9102 since 05/20/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 8.0.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
