A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer up to 6 (Web Browser) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the component FTP Client. CRLF injection vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary FTP commands via an ftp:// URL that contains a URL-encoded newline ("%0a") before the FTP command, which causes the commands to be inserted into the resulting FTP session, as demonstrated using a PORT command.
The weakness was published 03/12/2008 by Derek Abdine with Rapid7 (Website). The advisory is available at rapid7.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1166 since 12/09/2004. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
