Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 7.0.6/7.1-rc2. This affects the function prime_handle_to_fd of the component ivpu. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: accel/ivpu: Disallow re-exporting imported GEM objects Prevent re-exporting of imported GEM buffers by adding a custom prime_handle_to_fd callback that checks if the object is imported and returns -EOPNOTSUPP if so. Re-exporting imported GEM buffers causes loss of buffer flags settings, leading to incorrect device access and data corruption.
The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-43498 since 05/01/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/09/2026).
