Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in LXQt PCManFM-Qt up to 2.4.0. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function org.freedesktop.FileManager1.ShowFolders. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a dynamically-managed code resources vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-913. The product does not properly restrict reading from or writing to dynamically-managed code resources such as variables, objects, classes, attributes, functions, or executable instructions or statements. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

An issue was discovered in all versions of PCManFM-Qt starting from 1.1.0. When a regular file's path is passed as a URI in an org.freedesktop.FileManager1.ShowFolders D-Bus method call, PCManFM-Qt delegates to a different program (based on the file type) without user confirmation. This could be used to achieve code execution or circumvent network namespace restrictions. NOTE: those outcomes are potentially unwanted by most users; however, the behavior of the product does comply with the applicable specification, and a simplistic solution (ensuring that the URI does not name a regular file) may have adverse consequences for I/O.

The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-48700 since 05/22/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
