OpenKM Community Edition/Professional Edition up to 6.3.12 Administrative Scripting Interface /admin/Scripting fsPath path traversal

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability identified as critical has been detected in OpenKM Community Edition and Professional Edition up to 6.3.12. Affected is an unknown function of the file /admin/Scripting of the component Administrative Scripting Interface. Performing a manipulation of the argument fsPath results in path traversal. This vulnerability is identified as CVE-2026-41917. The attack can be initiated remotely. Additionally, an exploit exists.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in OpenKM Community Edition and Professional Edition up to 6.3.12. This affects some unknown functionality of the file /admin/Scripting of the component Administrative Scripting Interface. The manipulation of the argument fsPath with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

OpenKM 6.3.12 contains a local file inclusion vulnerability in the administrative scripting interface at /admin/Scripting that allows authenticated administrators to read arbitrary files by supplying an attacker-controlled filesystem path through the fsPath parameter with action=Load. Attackers can exploit this to access sensitive files including /etc/passwd, configuration files containing database credentials, and JVM keystores accessible to the OpenKM process.

The advisory is shared at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-41917 since 04/22/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. Technical details and a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.

The exploit is shared for download at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-31833). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
