A vulnerability was found in Yoast SEO Plugin up to 26.5 on WordPress. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component Search REST API Endpoint. The Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object References in all versions up to, and including, 26.5. This is due to insufficient authorization checks in the Meta Search REST API endpoint that fail to verify post ownership. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to read sensitive SEO metadata from any post on the site via the 'post_id' parameter, including posts owned by other users, private posts, and draft posts.
The weakness was released by NumeX. The advisory is shared for download at wordfence.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-14481 since 12/10/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 26.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
