Linux Kernel up to 6.19.3 exynos vidi_connection_ioctl null pointer dereference

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.3. This vulnerability affects the function vidi_connection_ioctl of the component exynos. Executing a manipulation can lead to null pointer dereference. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-45958. There is not any exploit available. Upgrading the affected component is advised.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.3. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function vidi_connection_ioctl of the component exynos. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/exynos: vidi: fix to avoid directly dereferencing user pointer In vidi_connection_ioctl(), vidi->edid(user pointer) is directly dereferenced in the kernel. This allows arbitrary kernel memory access from the user space, so instead of directly accessing the user pointer in the kernel, we should modify it to copy edid to kernel memory using copy_from_user() and use it.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-45958 since 05/13/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 5.10.253, 5.15.203, 6.1.167, 6.6.130, 6.12.77, 6.18.14 or 6.19.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 13537f7f6d28a87ee2e496e071b6ad9541905f23/c2914c0ca7557c6c5c845621cb6d6c9f26ab5a8c/7efb6a4e6b1b523e744d17e6249757ed97caae7c/2e147aa3169b83eaf044776f81d86235bf147de1/4c4193829109f38b2855de77981adc2e066286c7/4949e32387fe315b59ad5f422c9fc52836fbdd1e/235d702b771416b8a61e81bb09ba39282e4268fd/d4c98c077c7fb2dfdece7d605e694b5ea2665085 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
