Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in honojs hono up to 4.12.20. This vulnerability affects the function serialize of the component Response Header Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a response splitting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-113. The product receives data from an HTTP agent/component (e.g., web server, proxy, browser, etc.), but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CR and LF characters before the data is included in outgoing HTTP headers. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:
Hono is a Web application framework that provides support for any JavaScript runtime. Prior to 4.12.21, the serialize() function in hono/cookie validates domain and path options against characters that corrupt Set-Cookie header syntax (;, \r, \n), but does not apply the same validation to sameSite and priority. An application that passes user-controlled input into either option may produce a Set-Cookie response header containing attacker-chosen additional attributes. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.12.21.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-47675 since 05/19/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 4.12.21 eliminates this vulnerability.
