Details
A vulnerability has been found in OpenSolution QuickCMS up to 6.8 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component Session Identifier Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session fixiation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-384. Authenticating a user, or otherwise establishing a new user session, without invalidating any existing session identifier gives an attacker the opportunity to steal authenticated sessions. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
QuickCMS allows a user's session identifier to be set before authentication. The value of this session ID stays the same after authentication. This behaviour enables an attacker to fix a session ID for a victim and later hijack the authenticated session. This issue was fixed in a patch to version 6.8 published on 15.05.2026, deployments without this patch are still vulnerable.
The weakness was published by Jakub Lipiński. The advisory is shared at cert.pl. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-33384 since 03/19/2026. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
Upgrading to version 6.8 or 15.05.2026 eliminates this vulnerability.
