Details
A vulnerability was found in HKUDS nanobot up to 0.2.0 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
Nanobot prior to version 0.2.1 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the Matrix channel media download handler that allows authenticated room members to exhaust process memory and bandwidth by sending media events with missing or invalid size metadata. Attackers can send multiple concurrent Matrix media events with omitted or invalid declared sizes to trigger simultaneous large media downloads that fully materialize response bodies before post-download rejection, consuming process resources until service degradation occurs.
