Details
A vulnerability was found in Armcode Arm Whois 3.11. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Arm Whois 3.11 contains a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by supplying oversized input to the IP address or domain field. Attackers can craft malicious input exceeding 658 bytes with shellcode to overwrite the structured exception handler and gain command execution when the application processes the input.
