Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.127/6.12.74/6.18.13/6.19.3 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function wpcm_fiu_probe of the component spi. The manipulation of the argument memory_size with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: wpcm-fiu: Fix potential NULL pointer dereference in wpcm_fiu_probe() platform_get_resource_byname() can return NULL, which would cause a crash when passed the pointer to resource_size(). Move the fiu->memory_size assignment after the error check for devm_ioremap_resource() to prevent the potential NULL pointer dereference.
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-46261 since 05/13/2026. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
