Linux Kernel up to 6.19.3 octeontx2-af denial of service

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.19.3. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component octeontx2-af. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: octeontx2-af: Fix PF driver crash with kexec kernel booting During a kexec reboot the hardware is not power-cycled, so AF state from the old kernel can persist into the new kernel. When AF and PF drivers are built as modules, the PF driver may probe before AF reinitializes the hardware. The PF driver treats the RVUM block revision as an indication that AF initialization is complete. If this value is left uncleared at shutdown, PF may incorrectly assume AF is ready and access stale hardware state, leading to a crash. Clear the RVUM block revision during AF shutdown to avoid PF mis-detecting AF readiness after kexec.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-46249 since 05/13/2026. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

Upgrading to version 5.10.252, 5.15.202, 6.1.165, 6.6.128, 6.12.75, 6.18.14 or 6.19.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch b7605b9301abc18fbbf2b0e23fdd281fc768955d/9769a09afda20a006b528b9e723effcae45965b2/57821d1436ba1c6a6973aa32d54166fdec35558c/8b5ed7c5417b7013d35b6f2507dab739013ba1a9/7d56ba306e93d04696718963fb4cda2883ee7585/9c3398e5b3a914b74276d44ab54c49123b89c61a/1370736836a18b5e0cd74bcc9cffe11d21f1fe79/2d2d574309e3ae84ee794869a5da8b4c38753a94 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
