Details
A vulnerability was found in Altium Enterprise Server up to 8.1.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component Collaboration Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A path traversal vulnerability exists in the Altium Enterprise Server Collaboration Service due to improper handling of user-supplied filenames in the MCAD and Simulation file download flows. A regular authenticated user can submit a collaboration message containing a crafted filename, which is later used to construct the download path on the server without validation, allowing arbitrary files to be read from the server filesystem. Because the readable files include the server's master configuration, which stores credentials for privileged accounts, exploitation can lead to authenticating as a system administrator and gaining full control of the server. Altium 365 cloud deployments are not affected.
The weakness was released by Joris Aerts with Tesla Inc.. The advisory is shared for download at altium.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-11423 since 06/05/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
Upgrading to version 8.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
