Details
A vulnerability has been found in codepress Admin Columns Plugin up to 7.0.18 on WordPress and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function unserialize. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Admin Columns plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection leading to Remote Code Execution in versions up to and including 7.0.18. This is due to the use of `unserialize()` without an `allowed_classes` restriction in the `IdsToCollection::get_ids_from_string()` function, which processes attacker-controlled post meta values without proper validation. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to inject a serialized PHP object into a post's custom meta field and trigger arbitrary code execution by exploiting a bundled POP gadget chain, resulting in remote code execution as the web server user.
The weakness was disclosed by Osvaldo Noe Gonzalez Del Rio. The advisory is available at wordfence.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-7654 since 05/01/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
