Linux Kernel up to 6.18.29/7.0.6/7.1-rc2 net kernel/irq/manage.c request_threaded_irq information disclosure

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.29/7.0.6/7.1-rc2. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function request_threaded_irq of the file kernel/irq/manage.c of the component net. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: libwx: use request_irq for VF misc interrupt Currently, request_threaded_irq() is used with a primary handler but a NULL threaded handler, while also setting the IRQF_ONESHOT flag. This specific combination triggers a WARNING since the commit aef30c8d569c ("genirq: Warn about using IRQF_ONESHOT without a threaded handler"). WARNING: kernel/irq/manage.c:1502 at __setup_irq+0x4fa/0x760 Fix the issue by switching to request_irq(), which is the appropriate interface or a non-threaded interrupt handler, and removing the unnecessary IRQF_ONESHOT flag.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-46297 since 05/13/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 06/08/2026). This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 6.18.30, 7.0.7 or 7.1-rc3 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 1bca036fe3607182c21f05e2b262167edbef086c/a841574c6e573132681aa57f9b43a0a897a423f6/7a33345153eeeda195c55f15be27074e4c3b5109 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
