Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.26/7.0.3. Affected is the function hugetlb_add_param of the component mm. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/hugetlb: fix early boot crash on parameters without '=' separator If hugepages, hugepagesz, or default_hugepagesz are specified on the kernel command line without the '=' separator, early parameter parsing passes NULL to hugetlb_add_param(), which dereferences it in strlen() and can crash the system during early boot. Reject NULL values in hugetlb_add_param() and return -EINVAL instead.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-46284 since 05/13/2026. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
