Details
A vulnerability was found in NationalSecurityAgency Ghidra up to 12.0.1. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Extension Installer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Ghidra before 12.0.2 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the extension installer that fails to validate ZIP entry names during extraction. Attackers can craft malicious extensions with traversal sequences like ../ in filenames to write arbitrary files outside the intended directory, enabling code execution.
The weakness was released by Fin. It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-52752 since 06/08/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy.
